A Spectacular Start to the Season
Over 40 guests joined us at the spectacular Chartered Accountants’ Hall in London for our first event of the BDOVELO 2018 calendar, the Season Opener. Andrew Gilligan gave a fascinating personal insight into some of the challenges he experienced in introducing the cycle superhighways in London. He shared many a tale of working with his former boss, Boris Johnson, which certainly tickled the audience at various points.
We were delighted that Phil Cavell from Cyclefit was able to share his extensive knowledge with us, and he gave advice on optimising your riding position, improving efficiency and minimising the risk of injury to the audience. Please do feel free to contact Phil directly at email@example.com if you would like learn more or are interested in a bike fit.
Guests were able to network with over 30 companies and soak up the atmosphere of the ICAEW with a beer in the hand. In the words of one attendee:
“I spent the evening talking to some very interesting people from various backgrounds and the conversations ranged over many topics, not by any means confined to cycling, although that was our initial shared interest. The guest speakers were very funny, and Phil’s insights on physiology and bike-fitting were very useful to the active cyclist. I had expected to spend the evening talking bikes and training schedules with a group of highly competitive ‘chiselled whippets’ but in fact the guests were far more diverse and empathetic than that. I am a convert!”
We hope you can join us at our West Sussex ride on the 19th April. Full details can be found at www.bdovelo.cc/calendar/west-sussex-ride-2/
