I’m definitely more tortoise than hare when it comes to cycling.

I’m the founder and principal of the London based investment and advisory firm, Jacobs Capital. We work with businesses across the retail, consumer and media sectors.

My background is in law, as a qualified solicitor with nearly 30 years’ experience in investment banking and private equity. I have a long history of investing in and financing both public and private businesses. I’m now working with a number of leading retail and consumer brands to provide them with strategic and financial advice and capital.

I’ve worked with many of the UK’s leading retail and consumer groups and international retail operators from US and Europe.

Currently, I am a non-executive director of Virgin Active and Iceland Foods. I hold a similar position at Brait SE, an investment holding company whose investment portfolio currently includes the above and South African food producer, Premier; and New Look Retail Group.

My chairmanships include Zoggs Group, holding company of performance swimwear brand Zoggs, and Redbus Media Group, operator of targeted advertising networks across the UK.

Deciding my favourite bike comes down to a toss-up between my current Parlee Altum and my first Moulton Mini.

I love to ride the hilly country along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast and the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps.

I’m a big fan of Sir Chris Hoy; his incredible achievements and his attitude set him apart from the rest of Cycling GB.
