I’m definitely more tortoise than hare when it comes to cycling.

I’m the founder and principal of the London based investment and advisory firm, Jacobs Capital. We work with businesses across the retail, consumer and media sectors.

My background is in law, as a qualified solicitor with nearly 30 years’ experience in investment banking and private equity. I have a long history of investing in and financing both public and private businesses. I’m now working with a number of leading retail and consumer brands to provide them with strategic and financial advice and capital.

I’ve worked with many of the UK’s leading retail and consumer groups and international retail operators from US and Europe.

Currently, I am a non-executive director of Virgin Active, Iceland Foods, Reiss, Blue Inc and Austin Reed. I hold a similar position at Brait SE, an investment holding company whose investment portfolio currently includes the South African food producer, Premier; the health club operator, Virgin Active and New Look Retail Group.

My chairmanships include Zoggs Group, holding company of performance swimwear brand Zoggs, and Redbus Media Group, operator of targeted advertising networks across the UK.

Deciding my favourite bike comes down to a toss-up between my current Parlee Altum and my first Moulton Mini.

I love to ride the hilly country along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, but whether that provides enough training base for my upcoming trip to the French Alps, only time will tell.

I’m a big fan of Sir Chris Hoy; his incredible achievements and his attitude set him apart in my view.
