I live in Surrey, I ride regularly in the local hills and head to more mountainous regions in Europe whenever I can find the time.

One of last year’s favourite rides was a spectacular route through the French Alps incorporating many famous climbs from Evian-les-Bains down to the Mediterranean at Nice. This year I’m looking forward to cycling tours in the Dolomites and Mallorca.

My favourite bike is my S-Works Shiv and my most exhilarating cycling moment thus far is 86.4kph. I race on my Shiv and it will come with me to the World Triathlon Championships in Chicago this year where I’ll be representing Great Britain in the Age Group team for the second time.

Outside of training and competing I spend time with my family and I am a collector of fine wines with a particular passion for red Burgundy.

I’ve worked in the media and advertising industry for over 30 years. I began my career at Young & Rubicam before moving to WCRS. In 1989 I founded BBJ, later renamed Vizeum, in the UK and built the agency business before it was acquired by Aegis Group plc in 1999. I held regional management roles until 2008 when I became CEO of Aegis Media, taking global responsibility for the largest of the two divisions of Aegis Group plc. In 2008 I was appointed as a PLC Board Director, going on to take the role Chief Executive of Aegis Group plc in March 2010.

I oversaw the largest acquisition in Aegis Group history when Mitchell and Partners became part of Aegis Media and then led the transformational disposal of Synovate, the market research company to Ipsos S.A. for £528million in 2011. This saw Aegis become the world’s leading focused media and digital communications specialist.

In 2013 I negotiated the sale of Aegis Group plc to Dentsu Inc., a £3.2billion transaction which remains the largest deal in the history of advertising. Following completion of the transaction I was appointed CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network which covers all of Aegis Media and Dentsu operations outside of Japan. In July 2013 I became only the second non-Japanese Executive Officer of Dentsu Inc.
